Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris born October 20 1964) is an American politician and lawyer who is currently the 49th vice president of the United States. She is the first female vice president and is the highest ranking female politician in U.S history. As a member the Democratic Party, she was the attorney general of California in 2011-2017 and a United States senator representing California in 2017-2021. Harris was born in Oakland, California. She graduated from Howard University as well as the University of California Hastings College of the Law. Her professional career started with the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Harris was later recruited to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. The office was named San Francisco district attorney in 2003. She was elected Attorney general of California in the year 2010. In 2014, she was re-elected. Harris was the junior United States Senator from California between 2017 until 2021. Harris beat Loretta Sánchez in the 2016 Senate elections to become the 2nd African American woman, and the first South Asian American, to be senator in the United States Senate. As a senator, Harris advocated for federal de-scheduling of healthcare, and legalization of cannabis as a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants and the DREAM Act which bans assault weapons. Her pointed questioning of Trump officials in Senate hearings earned her national attention, including the second Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh who was indicted with sexual assault.
